Meet the Team: Shannah Goins

At PetroLedger, we get to know our clients pretty well. We want you to know who we are, too. There’s a lot more personality than you might expect to find at a financial firm, and while professionalism is our first order of business, creating a fun work environment is always close behind! Today we’d like to introduce Shannah Goins, one of our hardworking Directors of Client Success. We asked her some questions to get to know her a little better.

How did you get into Oil & Gas accounting?

I went to a career fair on campus, and Samson Resources had a recruiter there.  She screened me, and I was chosen for an interview.  I interviewed with Samson for a Staff Accountant position in the fall of my senior year and was offered a job starting after graduation the following year.  I’ve really enjoyed being in oil and gas accounting over the years.  I’ve been blessed to work for great companies and with some of the brightest people!

What's a fun fact about you that people normally don't know?

I used to race go karts in Muskogee on Saturday nights against boys.  I also had a dirt bike and my own go kart.  I was a bit of a dare devil back in the day.  Now I’m afraid of everything!

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

One song would be tough to pick!  But, if I had to pick just one, I would choose “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me.  That song gets me every time!

If you weren't an accountant, what could you see yourself doing?

If I wasn’t an accountant, I would do residential real estate.  I love all things real estate from construction of homes to the selling process.  I would definitely be a home builder; I love watching the shell of a home being constructed into something beautiful for someone to enjoy!  I’m an HGTV fanatic!

What’s your favorite thing about your job?  

I love interacting with all of our various clients and learning about their business!  No two clients are the same so there is so much variety which I really enjoy.  It’s very fulfilling to get to be a part of what they’re doing and act as an extension to their office.
