Here at PetroLedger, we get to know our clients pretty well. We want you to know who we are, too. There’s a lot more personality than you might expect to find at a financial firm, and while professionalism is our first order of business, creating a fun work environment is always close behind! Today we’d like to introduce Grant Sparks, our new Director of Private Client and Regulatory services. We sat down with him to ask a few questions and get to know him a little better.
What is a current trend that you just don’t understand?
I have an almost 15-year-old daughter, and what I really don't understand is why kids these days don't get excited about getting their driver's license. It was much different when I was their age. Oh, and I don't get the appeal of the Broccoli Haircuts.
Can you tell me about your background?
I grew up in a small town about 45 minutes west of Tulsa, Oklahoma. My grandfather was a geologist and built a drilling and production company that is still in operation today. I worked for the family company throughout high school and college mostly working on service rigs and as a pumper. After graduating from Oklahoma State University, I went to work as a revenue accountant for IBM outsourcing, supporting BP Amoco, and Marathon. I moved on from IBM to American Energy Partners and worked as an Accounting Manager for many years before joining Associated Resources and now Petroledger.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
The best piece of advice that I have ever been given is to focus more on how you invest your time than you do your money.
What is your specific role with PetroLedger, including your day-to-day activities?
My day-to-day activities are really changing almost every day. I just moved into the role of Director of Private Clients and Regulatory Services. So, currently, I am spending a lot of time understanding client deliverables and working with the Senior Managers to make sure we have the right people in the right positions to meet client expectations. Some of my additional activities include UR management, hiring needs, scoping support for new business, and supporting the conversion of former ARI clients onto ODA.
If you could have dinner with one historical figure, who would it be?
If I could have dinner with any historical figure it would have to be John F. Kennedy. More specifically I would like to have dinner with him on the day of November 21, 1963. This was the first day of what was to be his two day re-election tour of Texas and was the day before his assassination.
Angella is the newest addition to the PetroLedger Marketing team. She comes to us with many years of experience in various marketing settings creating graphics and running ad campaigns. She has a Bachelors in Graphic Design and Media Arts.
