Our Tulsa team participated in its 4th annual company walk on September 19th as a part of the St. Jude Walk/Run, raising more than $2,600 to support St. Jude's mission to find a cure during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

Check out all of the details and pictures from this amazing event below!

How It Started

In 2019, the Tulsa PetroLedger office voted on organizations that they wanted to partner with either in fundraising or in community participation. Based on the results of their vote, they chose a local organization, Emergency Infant Services, and a national organization, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They did not know that the support they gave to their community would come back and impact them so close to home. In September of 2019, our very own Melissa Corbett’s son was diagnosed with Leukemia and began to utilize St. Jude's services soon after. It was a tremendous blessing for their family. This is how the annual PetroLedger St. Jude walk began, and it's a tradition and cause that is very dear to the heart of this company.

How It's Going

This year, because the city-wide organized St. Jude walk is on a Saturday, and people have many obligations outside of work on Saturday, they decided to do an office walk during the week. The Tulsa office blocked off the top floor of their parking garage and walked laps. They do this to try to raise money for the organization, but they also enjoy having a little fun with it as well. Everyone brings breakfast food and they make the event a time of celebration.

They had close to 30 people participate this year and raised over $2,600, including a generous donation from our partners in the San Antonio office to show their support. Overall, PetroLedger Tulsa has raised well over $10,000 in the last 4 years.

They have done this every year since 2019, and we are happy to say that Aidan Corbett is now cancer-free!!!

About the Organizations

Emergency Infant Services, commonly known as EIS, is a nonprofit organization that offers assistance with basic needs items for children 5 years old and under whose families are facing financial and personal challenges. EIS offers basic needs items like diapers, wipes, formula, food, clothing, and other essentials. In addition, they with a network of partner agencies and organizations to connect families with the resources they need, even if EIS does not offer those services.

For more information about EIS, check out their services page.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital needs little introduction from us. The mission of St. Jude's is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.

You can find more ways to get involved with St. Jude's and other ways to give on their website.
