2024 AAPL Annual Meeting Provides Critical Industry Insights

The 2024 American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) Annual Meeting, held in Boston in mid-June, was a remarkable success. The event provided great speakers with a wealth of knowledge, networking opportunities, and industry insights for all attendees. The event was well organized and, on top of the fantastic and incredibly informative sessions, included historic networking locations for all of those in attendance.

The meeting featured a diverse range of sessions led by industry experts, covering critical topics such as land management best practices, regulatory updates, and the latest technological advancements in the field. These sessions provided valuable information, practical strategies, and innovative solutions to current challenges faced by land professionals.

One of the standout aspects of the meeting was access to a number of different networking opportunities, including the Welcome Reception at the iconic Cheers Bar. Attendees could connect with peers, share experiences, and establish new professional relationships while expanding on already existing contacts. These social events fostered a sense of community and collaboration among industry leaders.

Presentations and discussions offered insights into emerging trends and future directions in land management. Topics such as the impact of renewable energy projects, evolving land use policies, and advancements in Carbon Capture, equipped attendees with the knowledge to stay ahead in a rapidly changing industry.

The meeting also celebrated the achievements and contributions of outstanding professionals in the field. The awards ceremony honored individuals and organizations that have demonstrated excellence and leadership in land management. The special event was held at the State Room, and included a happy hour and dinner with an incredible view overlooking Boston, as well as entertainment provided by singer/songwriters from The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.

Overall, The 2024 AAPL Annual Meeting successfully reinforced the importance of continuous learning, networking, and most importantly, growing with the Land industry.

Mike is our Vice President of Land & Business development. He has over 18 years of experience in the energy industry and has worked in a multitude of states, counties and basins throughout the United States. Mike is a member of AAPL, HAPL and PBLA. He has been highly involved in HAPL over the last 10 years, where he has held positions as Chairman, Director, 3rd VP, 2nd VP, 1st VP and President, as well as serving on AAPL committees. Also, in 2015, he was recognized as one of Texas Best Landman by Texas Top Producers and TIPRO. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin State University and is a Certified Professional Landman. Mike loves spending time with his family and enjoys college football, disc golf and any outdoor sports.
